There was this one Invader Zim episode where Zim turns Dib into bologna because Dib threw bologna at Zim. (click this link to view the episode in another browser)  When Bologna comes in contact with Zim’s skin, it fuses to him, causing him immense pain and wailing.  I know that makes no earthly sense, but there it is. Zim burned when touched with bologna. He injected Dib with “bologna DNA” and turned Dib baloney-ey.  There was a point at which Dib was trying to explain to people that he was all baloney-ey, and he ordered his sister Gaz to “taste me, I’m delicious.“Â
Where I’m going with this is that I caused my cat to be compelled to taste herself earlier and it reminded me of Dib tasting himself when he was all bolognafied.
No, I didn’t turn my cat into bologna, nor did I force her to lick herself. What happened was much more indicative of my life with this cat. I was grating cheese for tonight’s pasta dinner, and that damn cat jumped up onto the counter (a place where she is strictly forbidden). She tried to be all crafty and hide behind the coffee pot, but I had her number. I dropped the cheese and cheese-grater in the bowl, and nabbed the cat by the scruff of the neck. Once deposited on the floor, she realized that she smelled like delicious, delicious Romano cheese, but oh, it was mostly out of tongue’s reach.
I had to stop with dinner prep and devote some serious time to pointing at the cat and laughing as she craned her head around backward and lolled her tongue out as far as it would go while she tried to lick the back of her own neck.
I guess I have just learned one more way to keep the cat occupied when I need her to stop pestering me.
