Feelin' 1993

The done thing in the 1993-94 schoolyear in Hemingford, NE, was to dye your hair with Kool-Ade. I always wanted to, but was too chicken. I felt that my one attractive feature was my waist-length golden-brown hair, and didn't want to risk fucking up my one charm point.

Fast-forward to 2006. Now is a time when I butcher my own hair and take all responsibility for looking like a public jackass when my hair experiments backfire. Now is a time when my henna is growing out and I have extensive brown roots (my hair has gotten darker as I've gotten older) and I came to the conclusion that I was bored and wanted to see if Kool-Ade would work for me.

I'll need to have pink hair for halloween anyway, so this can be considered a dry run.

I put three pouches of “FlavorAde” (like Kool-Ade, only cheaper) in a small bowl with about a tablespoon of water, mixed it up, and slathered it all over my head. I'm now letting it dry, and will wash it out before I go to bed. If it works, my hair will be a little redder tomorrow. If it doesn't work, I'll have just sat around smelling of “cherry” flavoring for an hour or so. I'll be out about $0.30 all told.

No biggie.
