I really think everyone ought to get the chance to see the entire 2001 Morning Musume Christmas special. It’s so delightfully random, and I bet everyone who reads this blog is familiar with at least one small part of it:

Often incorrectly identified as “Japanese Fear Factor” or as a Japanese game show, it was actually and somewhat inexplicably a feature in the Morning Musume holiday special as a sort of team-building exercise. The whole show had a theme of helping integrate one new girl (Konno Asami) who didn’t feel like she was a strong member of the group.

Other highlights include a timed sushi-rolling game, executed while singing about sushi to the tune of Jingle Bells, and a cake-eating contest.

This is really one of the silliest things I’ve had the privilege of seeing, and as a long-time Hello!Project fan, I’ve seen some darn silly stuff. Anyway, if anyone wants to see the original context of the Lizard scene and much more utter randomness, I urge you to go here and get to downloading.

While I’m spreading the Morning Musume holiday cheer, here are a couple of other cute and fun song selections:
White Christmas

Rudolph The Red Nosed Raindeer

Enjoy! This is about as festive as I get over here.
